Peter M. Grund

Researcher

Peter Grund is a research professional who served as the lab's coordinator from 2022-2023. He graduated with a BS in psychology and a minor in integrative neuroscience in 2022. Peter joined the Luciana Lab in May 2019 and remained a member until May 2023. He recently transitioned into a new role as a Clinical Research Coordinator within the Department of Neurology.

While serving as lab coordinator, Peter Grund managed two research studies. The first study, which started recruiting in early 2020, focused on exploring the relationship between motivational systems, reward sensitivity, and substance use in healthy college students. The second study, an ongoing longitudinal research project, was designed to identify changes in cognition and brain function among adult chronic pain patients who have been prescribed medical cannabis.

For both studies, Peter was involved in participant recruitment, completing informed consent, administering the behavioral assessment, and conducting statistical analyses on the collected data.

He also carried out an independent research project on the long-term effects of alcohol and cannabis use on adolescent/young adult impulsivity, as well as a project investigating the neural correlates of temporal discounting behavior.

In addition to his participation in the Brain and Behavioral Processes Lab, Peter previously worked as a data manager for the Minnesota Center for Twin and Family Research, a RA at the Minneapolis VA hospital, and a TA for the Human Neuroanatomy (NSCI 2101) lab section.

Outside of his research and academic work, Peter enjoys reading, contributing to Wikipedia, and staying active in local politics.
